The artist: FRED FOREST, a creator, a visionary, a professor at the University of Nice Sophia-Antipolis, holder of the Chair of Communication.

Since 1969, Fred Forest has been participating in lots of different art shows and exhibitions all over the world: France, Brazil, Bulgaria, Germany, Israel, Italy, Russia, Switzerland.

His numerous and various kinds of creative works involve all types of high- technology media. The originality of Fred 's work lies in his unique way of involving the general public in a communicative joint adventure. Sending peace messages across the borders with ex-Yougoslavia, purchasing an artistic M2 territory, all of Fred's experiences partake of the same concept central to the artist's imaginative capacity..

With his unwavering determination to take up the toughest challenge of opening up new horizons to the public, Fred explores new areas unbinding the mind of its physical, mental, social restrictions and constraints of all sorts.

TRANSFER ZONE: From the real to the virtual

The symbolically potent image of everybody's right foot, is not just one single step further; It virtually means a giant's stride forward into the upcoming third millenary.

At a philosophical level, it is an encouragement through an innovative artistic mode of expression to get the whole world to unite and share a unique feeling of communion.

To accept the disturbance that goes with change. To discover a new dimension full of disquieting unknown, to face the fear of a disrupted routin, the destabilization and discomfort of a territory where being different only makes sense. This is part of Fred's extraordinary involving project.

You just need to folow close on his heels. Do not get cold feet nor should you walk on tiptoe. in order to put your foot forward, put down your right foot. Let yourself be swept off your feet by this unique experience. You just need to start on the right foot and you will not put a foot wrong.

Place your whole right foot on a sheet of paper A4 after taking off your right shoe and sock. Draw a close contouring line of your foot. Indicate your name, city and country of residence, your shoe size and your gender. From these data red Forest will realize the digital universal foot. The current exhibition will be hosted at the Galerie Pierre Nouvion in Monaco from 22 February til 8 March 1996.
